Geography

Course

The Feuerbach arises on the eastern edge of Botnang from the confluence of the creek and butcher summer Haldenbach which collect the waters of the valleys around Botnang together with the first influx Knaupenbach. From the confluence of it flows to little before flowing northeast. In its first 1.5 kilometers below the Knaupenbachs, its only natural section, it flows through the Feuerbacher Tal to the homonymous district of Feuerbach. In this section he also flows through the grounds of the Waldheim Feuerbachtal. Within Feuerbach the creek runs underground for a long time, partly verdolt, partly in the sewers. After a short distance with an open run at the county line to Zuffenhausen he crossed the settlement area again verdolt. Then it flows back open, but usually in bed channeled through the districts of red and Zazenhausen. Between Zazenhausen, after which he goes into a slow turn to the southeast, and Mühlhausen its valley and hillside forests are shown on both sides as a nature reserve Lower Feuerbachtal. In the area of Mühlhausen town hall he will again verdolt underground and then forwarded to the Neckar.

Catchment area

The Feuerbach drains an area of 45 km ², which includes all or most of the Stuttgart city districts Botnang, Feuerbach, Zuffenhausen and master home as well as significant parts of the districts North and Mühlhausen and parts of Korntal and Kornwestheim. The catchment area is in the southwest by the Nesenbach ( in Stuttgart basin ), bounded on the south and west by the Glems with Lindenbachstrasse and in the north by the Kornwestheimer Gänsbach or wood creek. Because it runs along close to his right watershed to the Stuttgart basin, it has no significant inflows of this page.

Human intervention

In the second half of the 19th century, Feuerbach and Zuffenhausen developed, situated on the Northern Railway to industrial locations. The many effluents pollute the stream so strong that in it no later than 1895 no fish lived. As of 1900, the sources of the butcher, the Stuttgart Bach for water supply were used, resulting in water management and self-cleaning capacity of Feuerbach reduced and the problem of pollution worsened. With the Verdolung 1909/10, the problem was only banished under the earth. Today, 30 % of the stream running underground, and another 30 % are technically expanded. Since the mid- 1980s, individual sections were renatured in Zuffenhausen and red. Furthermore, however, the creek is contaminated; after its exit from the underground section in Feuerbach and the Zuffenhausen water run is considered heavily polluted ( Class III ), even in the upper reaches it is moderately polluted ( Class II ).
