Fevralsk

Fewralsk (Russian Февральск ) is an urban-type settlement in the Amur Oblast in the Russian Far East. She has (October 14, 2010 Balance ) 5128 inhabitants.

Geography

The settlement is located in the Zeya - Bureya level, southwest of Selemdschagebirges, between the Selemdscha and its left tributary Byssa. Fewralsk is located about 340 kilometers (direct distance ) north-east of Oblasthauptstadt Blagoveshchensk.

The settlement is part of Rajon Selemdschinski whose - much smaller - administrative center Ekimtschan direction lies some 150 kilometers to the northeast in the upper reaches of the Selemdscha.

History

In February 1896 settlers founded from the European part of Russia, the village Fewralskoje (Russian fewral for February).

In 1974, the village became one of the most important bases in the construction of the Baikal- Ostabschnittes Amur Mainline (BAM ). Station and new settlements were built by construction workers from the Krasnoyarsk region (in the framework of propaganda to the All-Union Komsomol construction project BAM one or more regions of the former Soviet Union have sponsored more than most to be erected stations and settlements along the route).

1982 received Fewralsk under its present name the status of urban-type settlement. The regular train traffic on the entire eastern section of the BAM to Komsomolsk -on-Amur Tynda was incorporated in 1989. The old village has since Fewralskoje district. After completion of the railway, many residents left the place, but the population is growing today in opposition to the tendency of most other places on the route slightly.

Economy and infrastructure

Fewralsk is most important station of the Baikal - Amur Mainline ( 3017 line kilometers from Taischet ) and the biggest town on the nearly 1,000 -kilometer section Tynda - Nowy Urgal. The route crosses near Fewralsk to 700 or 200m of bridges and the rivers Selemdscha Byssa.

By Fewralsk leads the already built in the 1940s by the road ( today ) Highway M58 Amur at Svobodny along the Zeya to Nowokijewski Uwal and then along the Selemdscha to Ekimtschan. In Fewralsk it is crossed by the dirt on this section of road along the BAM.

In the area around Fewralsk forestry is now increasingly operate, especially on timber exports in the relatively near People's Republic of China.
