FF Dax

The FF Dax is a humanist sans serif font that was designed by Hans Reichel between 1995 and 1997 for FontFont. A typical feature is the lack of spurs at the transitions between round and straight parts of letters, which makes it look very clear and reduced. These features are also designed by Reichel in other writings ( Barmen / Barmeno (H. Berthold AG, 1983) and its revision FF FF Sari and Mr. Short ) to find.

Reichel 2005 designed a version of FF Dax with less stroke contrast, which was published under the name FF Daxline and is therefore suitable especially for larger amounts of text.

The UPS Sans font that is used in the branding of UPS since 2005, is a modified FF Dax. United Parcel Service used them without licensing by FontShop. The resulting lawsuit was settled with a settlement.

The FF Dax is popular in advertising and brand identities and logos, for example:

  • Campaign appearance by David Cameron in 2005 and after his election victory for the British Conservative
  • New Democratic Party ( Canada )
  • Matterhorn -Gotthard - Bahn (MGB, Switzerland )
  • New Scientist ( titling )
  • Linde AG (modified variant " LindeDax " )
  • Noris Bank
  • Comdirect ( slightly modified, without a dot on the i)
  • Bank of Montreal ( Canada )
  • Television series How I Met Your Mother
