The FFC Heike Rheine (full name: Women's Football Club Heike Rheine eV) is a women's football club based in Rheine. The previous women's section of the FC Eintracht Rheine was founded as an independent club again on 10 March 1998. The FFC Heike Rheine was the first independent women's football club in Germany.

History

The roots of the Rheine women's football are at VfB Rheine, who played until 1986 at a local level. This should change after Alfred Werner, full time editor at Rheinermark Gazette, trainer and head of the women's football department was. In 1988 the team was relegated to the Regionalliga West only in the fifth division, 1989. There, the team immediately took second place behind the TSV Siegen and qualified for the newly founded Bundesliga. 1992 and 1993 the VfB took third place in each of the northern group and each reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. 1994 merged with VfB SG Eintracht Rheine to FC Eintracht Rheine. In the Bundesliga they finished four consecutive fourth place in the northern group and qualified automatically for the 1997 single-track Bundesliga. In the same year the club reached the Cup final, where they lost green and white Brauweiler 3-1.

On March 10, 1998, the women's football department under the FFC Heike Rheine present name became self-employed. However, the new name could not prevent the FFC were relegated from the Bundesliga. On the final day Brauweiler Rheine sent by a 1-0 win in the Regional. But after a year Rheine was back in the House of Lords. Actually Rheine would have had to go back. Due to the voluntary withdrawal of the FFC Flaesheim - Hillen and the license withdrawal of Sportfreunde Siegen there were in the 2000 /01 season no sporting descent. 2003 the team finished in fourth place and won the DFB Cup Hall of women. A year later, Rheine was even third parties and presented with Kerstin Garefrekes the scorer. At the end of the season Garefrekes left the club in the direction of first FFC Frankfurt. Other performance -makers left gradually the club and Rheine fell back into the rear table regions. 2007 had to be accepted for the second time the descent. The long-term ( player ) trainer Nicole Werner resigned and was replaced by Ralf Spaniards.

There was a deep fall. Few players in the team were down and the squad had to be filled by players from the own second team. The season was completed as Table so that the FFC Heike only in the third-tier Regionalliga West plays since the 2008/ 09 season in which he missed a further decline in the 2011/12 season only on goal difference.
