Fianarantsoa

Fianarantsoa (ugs. also malagasy Fianara ) (in German " where one learns good " ) is a town founded in 1830 in Madagascar with 167 240 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2005).
Fianarantsoa is the capital of the province of Fianarantsoa. In the town are the Université de Fianarantsoa, as well as a cathedral.
Fianarantsoa is the starting point for trips to the east coast and in the south of the country. A major employer in the city is the automobile manufacturer Karenjy, which maintains its assembly plant here.
