Fiat Turbina

The Fiat Turbina was built purely as a prototype in 1954 to test the use of gas turbines in vehicle.

It was a two-door coupe with rear-hinged suicide doors, two tail fins and wheels. The rear wheels were covered. Was powered by a rear- built two-stage gas turbine with three combustion chambers and two-stage compressor. It developed 300 hp ( 220 kW). That was enough for a top speed of 250 km / h

To a series production vehicle with a gas turbine, it never came. Disadvantages, which had shown the prototype, were the high fuel consumption and excessive heat.
