FIBA Africa Championship 1981

The basketball Africa Cup of 1981, the eleventh basketball Africa Championship, took place between the 15 th and December 23, 1981 held in Mogadishu, Somalia, which hosted the championship for the first time. Winner was the national team of the Ivory Coast, which, with the third finals in a row, could win the title for the first time. In the final, Egypt could be beaten. For the first time took a team from Mozambique and Zimbabwe in the tournament.

Mode

In the Preliminary Round ( Group A and B) was played to five (group A ) or six (group B) teams into two groups. Each team played against each other exactly once, so that each team exactly four (Group A) or five years (Group B ) Games ( 25 games in total were completed ) completed.
