Fiber-Optic Link Around the Globe
FLAG (Fiber - Optic Link Around the Globe ) is a 28,000 km long undersea fiber-optic cables, which England with Japan and many countries in between connects.
The distance between Hong Kong and Pusan was interrupted in 2006 by an earthquake.
2008, several parts of the line were interrupted by ship's anchor. The ships were illegally driven in a path around the cable and had to anchor because of storms.
20 December 2008 FLAG in the Mediterranean was cut again. Also, SEA-ME -WE 3 and 4 were affected.
In 2010 there was another interruptions caused by earthquakes. An earthquake had a magnitude of 6.4 resulted in damage to diverse backbones and connections that link Taiwan with the flag network. Longer-term failures were avoided by redirecting traffic.
