Fibularis tertius

The Musculus peron ( a) eus tertius (Latin for " third peroneal muscle "), even musculus peroneus tertius called, is a skeletal muscle of the lower leg. It is a fork of the extensor digitorum longus, whose tendon passes to the outer edge of the foot.

The predators of the muscle absent. In the horse it is purely stringy ( Tendo femorotarseus ) and a portion of the clamping saw construction.

Function

The musculus peroneus tertius is on the diffraction of the ankle - referred to in the human anatomy as dorsiflexion or dorsiflexion - involved. So he does the " pulling " of the foot. He also supports the eversion ( pronation ) of the foot.

In the animals - except the predators and horses - it acts as a flexor of the ankle and auxiliary extensors of the knee.

Varieties

In 10.5 % of cases the musculus peroneus tertius is absent in humans completely.
