Ficarazzi

Ficarazzi is a city in the province of Palermo in the Italian region Sicily, with 11,752 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012).

Ficarazzi located 10 km east of Palermo on the SS 113 The inhabitants live mainly from agriculture, are grown in the citrus fruits.

The neighboring municipalities are Bagheria, Misilmeri, Palermo and Villabate.

History

Ficarazzi originated from the year 1458th The city was founded by the Viceroy Pietro Speciale. A further expansion of the town goes back to the Marchese Luigi Giardina de Guevara, who took over the territory in 1733 by the Theatines.

Attractions

  • Fort from the 15th century. The castle was rebuilt in the 18th century to a villa.
