Ficciones

Fictions (Spanish Ficciones ) is one of the most famous collections of short stories by the Argentine author and poet Jorge Luis Borges. With it, justified the beginning of modern Latin American fantastic literature.

Genesis

The fictions describe a collection of stories, which Borges wrote about the period between 1939 and 1944. 1941 first appeared Borges second fictional anthology: "The Garden of the paths which branch " (El jardin de senderos que se bifurcan ), the leg held a collection of seven short stories. Five years later, in 1944, added the author of seven works under the " tricks " and the complete works now received the name of " fictions ". 1956 were the " fictions " added another three stories.

The stories of The End, The Phoenix and The South sect were taken in 1956 in addition fictions. The Argentine edition of fictions still contained the 1936 short story El Acercamiento a Almotásim (The Way to Almotásim ). Borges has it removed from later editions.
