Fichtwald
The community Fichtwald lies in the Elbe -Elster in Brandenburg and part of the Office Schlieben headquartered in the city Schlieben. It was created on December 31, 2001, from the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Hillmersdorf, Obernaundorf and Stechau.

Geography
The community Fichtwald located in the eastern part of the Ficht forest. The Fichtwald is a humid lowland area, which today is characterized by meadows, pasture and arable land. The original marshland was drained ever since its colonization. The Fichtwald is surrounded by six formerly independent villages, three of which went up in the community Fichtwald. The other villages were Proßmarke, Wehrhain and Franks grove. In the 19th century, man began with the mining of peat in Fichtwald area. With the development of brown coal in Lower Lusatia of peat lost its importance and the agricultural use was important again.

The community Fichtwald was formed by the voluntary association of villages Obernaundorf, Hillmersdorf and Stechau December 31, 2001.
