FIDE-Album

The FIDE Album is a publication of FIDE, in which the best chess compositions are represented in chess. The album will be released every three years. The number of publications in Fide album decides to award the title for Composers.

Departments

In any FIDE Album, there are eight departments:

  • Two Züger
  • Three Züger
  • More Züger
  • Studies
  • Helpmates
  • Selfmates
  • Fairy chess
  • Retrograde analysis

Accommodate a chess composition

Just in time for release of a new album there is a call for tenders. This is what composers interested apply with their chess pieces for each department.

For each department there is a four -member commission, which evaluates the chess compositions. This Commission consists of a Director and three judges. All Commissioners are usually " International Judge FIDE for chess compositions". Each judge will evaluate all submitted tasks with a score from 0 ( bad) to 4 ( = good).

Where a chess composition in the sum of 8 or more points (and possibly 7.5 points if the number of selected compositions with eight or more points in the department is too low ), then it will be included in the FIDE Album.

Title award for composers

For each task that will be included in a Fide album, the composer gets 1 point. For endgame studies, there are 1.67 points. Depending on the number of points titles are awarded to composers:

Overall, reprinted in the previous 19 FIDE albums (up Album 1998-2000) 18 751 compositions. Petko Petkov leads with 333.50 points, the points list before Hans -Peter Rehm ( 202.70 points) and Michel Caillaud ( 200.92 points).
