Fife Symington

John Fife Symington III ( born August 12, 1945 in New York City ) is a retired American politician ( Republican). He was from 1991 to 1997 Governor of the State of Arizona.

Early years

J. Fife Symington III grew after he was born in New York City, Maryland on. He made 1968 his Bachelor of Arts in Humanities at Harvard University. He then joined the United States Air Force. In 1971 he was awarded the Bronze Star for his Meritorious Service in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. In the same year he left the Air Force with the rank of captain. In the United States 1976, he founded the Symington Company, a commercial industrial companies, of which he was president and CEO until May 1989. At that time he started his governor's race.

Governor of Arizona

Symington was elected the 19th Governor of Arizona in 1991. During this time, it came to tax cuts, income growth and rising capital investment. However, he was convicted of a criminal offense in September 1997. He is said to have cheated in the 1980s lender as Grundstückserschließer. Then he immediately stepped down from his position and was sentenced to 30 months in a federal prison. He held his office as governor of 6 March 1991 to 5 September 1997.
