Figure–ground (perception)

Figure-ground perception is a technical term from the field of sensory perception. He describes the distinction between foreground ( figure) and background (basic ) for the weighting of perceived stimuli / sensations. The study of figure-ground processes and especially of characteristics of the figure in the foreground in terms of shape, forms the focus of the research and the theory of Gestalt psychology.
