FIL World Luge Championships 2012
The 43rd FIL Luge World Championships was held from 6 to 12 February 2012 at the luge and bobsled track in Altenberg in the Erzgebirge.
The hosting of the World Cup has been awarded by the World Association FIL in June 2008 in Altenberg, after the only competitor, the ice rink of Whistler Mountain, his candidacy was withdrawn. After 1996, the championships were held for the second time in Altenberg.

Women, single seater

Tatjana Huefner won her fourth individual gold medal at the FIL World Luge Championships and thereby draws equal with Margit Schumann and Sylke Otto. Tatjana Ivanova presented with 52.161 seconds on a new track record.
Men, single seater

Felix Loch won his third World Championship gold medal. For the Russian Luge Association silver medal of Albert Demchenko was the first ever at Luge World Championships. Armin Zöggeler won six gold and three silver medals his first bronze and overall tenth World Championship medal in the single-seater.
Two-seater
Date: February 10, 2012
For the brothers Andreas and Wolfgang Linger, it was the third world title after 2003 and 2011. It was the ninth world championship gold medal for Austria in the doubles.
