Fila Brazillia

Fila Brazillia is a British duo from Kingston upon Hull, consisting of Steve Cobby and David McSherry, which can be largely associate with the genre of electronic music. Frequently her music is categorized as downtempo, but Fila Brazillia mix as experimental band various styles such as ambient, funk, trip-hop, dub and techno.

Cobby and McSherry began from 1990, record music under the name Fila Brazillia. First, long time in Pork Recordings in her hometown of Hull under contract, eventually founded Fila Brazillia in 1999, her own label Twentythree Records.

Your band name, the confusion makes frequent regarding their style, they adapted by its own account of the dog breed Fila Brasileiro, whose attitude in the UK was banned. The title of their publications are characterized by often humorous puns. Their album Maim That Tune, they dedicated the recently deceased U.S. comedian Bill Hicks. Furthermore Fila Brazillia produced several remixes, including by artists such as Radiohead and Sven Väth.

After publication of the best-of album Retrospective in 2006, both apparently decided to end the long-standing project Fila Brazillia, as can be read on their MySpace page. A definitive or official announcement about this yet did not exist, however.

Both Steve Cobby and David McSherry are also, however, also worked as a DJ and in various side projects (eg The Solid Doctor, Mandrillus Sphynx and The Cutler ).
