Filippo Smaldone

Filippo Smaldone ( born July 27, 1848 in Naples, Italy, † June 4, 1923 in Lecce, Italy), Catholic priest, founder of the " Salesian Sisters of the Sacred Heart ". Smaldone dedicated to deaf children. He is next to St. Francis de Sales, the second patron saint for the deaf.

Life

Filippo Smaldone was born in 1848 in Naples, Italy. Very early on he decided to become a priest, so that he entered the Seminary of Naples. During the time of his studies, he came into contact with the large number of deaf people who were there at that time in Naples and for no one cared particularly. On September 23, 1871 he was ordained a priest. In the first priest years he held in addition to his efforts to deaf people of the city also catechism classes and visited the sick.
