Filippo Taglioni

Filippo Taglioni ( born November 5, 1777 Milan, † February 11, 1871 in Como ) was an Italian dancer, ballet master and choreographer.

Life

Taglioni was the son of Grottesktänzers and in Pisa acting ballet master Carlo Taglioni and his wife Maria Petracchi. His influence extends primarily to Italy, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and France.

Filippo debuted in 1794 as a 17- year-old in Pisa, where he appeared first in female roles. From 1799 he studied with Jean -François Coulon ( 1764-1834 ) in Paris, where he danced in ballets by Louis Milon and Pierre Gardel. In 1803 he was principal dancer and ballet master in Sweden. There he married in 1804 Sophie Karsten, a daughter of the opera singer Christopher Karsten. From this marriage two children were born, Marie Taglioni (1804-1884) and Paul Taglioni (1808-1884), which were both famous dancer. 1805 Filippo was hired as ballet master for life on Kärntnertortheater in Vienna.

1821 moved Taglioni's wife with the two children from Paris to Vienna. Disappointed by their training Filippo trained themselves for six months six hours a day by, he completed a gradual anabolic training with her.
