Filiz Koçali

Filiz Kocali ( born January 22, 1958 in İstanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish politician, feminist and journalist. She was until 2009 Secretary General of the Sosyalist Demokrasi Partisi (SDP ), but then entered the Barış ve Demokrasi Partisi (BDP ).

In 1976 she participates in the student movement. Your training interrupting it works in this period as a worker in the Altın Yıldız and in the Arıkol factory to participate in the struggles of the labor movement. After the coup of 12 September 1980 she has been active among others in the Human Rights Association in Istanbul.

As a journalist, she has worked at the magazines Kadınca and Kim, as well as the radical and BIA. Since 1987 active in the feminist movement, it belongs to the 1995 founding of the feminist magazine Pazartesi whose chief editor is it in the meantime. In February 2000, Filiz Kocali separates with other editors of the magazine.

She was represented at the founding of both the ODP and the SDP, who split in 2002 by the ODP, and the boards of both parties involved. From May 2004 until 2009, she served as Secretary General of the SDP.
