The Vienna Film Academy, the Institute of Film and Television of the State University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. It is the only university-level educational institution in the field of film in Austria.

History

1952 established Walter Kolm - Veltée special training for filmmaking at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, now the University of Music and Performing Arts. In 1960, a film class, led by Hans Winge, added. In 1963, the two courses were combined into the newly founded " Film and Television Department ." More courses followed and since 1998 the Film and Television Institute is known as the " Vienna Film Academy ."

Study

The course is structured as a three-year bachelor's followed by a two-year Master's degree ( Bachelor of Arts / Master of Arts or Bakk.art / Mag.art ) and divided into the five following directions:

  • Direction
  • Screenplay
  • Imaging and camera
  • Section
  • Production

As well as a Master's degree:

  • Digital Art - Compositing

The two-year foundation course an all fields of study comprehensive, joint training is completed. After two years of undergraduate specialization occurs in the subject for which the student was accepted at the Film Academy.

Application

In order to study at the Film Academy, no Matura (or high school ) is required. About admission to study alone decides the existence of the annual entrance examination:

After filing the prescribed application tasks are held every year in mid-September for a week selection interviews and tests took place in which the suitability for the intended field of study should be noted. It will be admitted to the program each year about 15 to 20 students. After passing the entrance test, the study may begin in early October.
