I was also excited convinced that I would soon manifest as the world 's leading film director. "

Filmstaden today

Today, the site seems like its own small district Solnas. Some of the historic buildings have been preserved and renovated, they are under monument protection. They now include artist studios, offices of film, movie theaters and restaurants. These new residential buildings have been built on the site. Of the original buildings have been preserved, among other items:

  • The entrance and guardhouse received the visitors. The wrought-iron portal with the logo of the film company SF, Svensk Industri film, dating back to the origin of time, before there was a barrier within the portal with a large "Stop " sign. The porter knew the access control and supervised the handling of hazardous nitrate film.
  • In the Studio ( Lilla Ateljén ) all classic silent movies were filmed, also Körkarlen originated here. In the building there were several studios on three floors, the largest was on the top floor under a glass roof and glass facades. Even the sound era was filmed here on, although the large glass surfaces could penetrate noise from outside. On the ground floor you will find the renovated Bergman operand cinema with 24 seats, which was used to view the current film footage and the Rohkopien.
  • In the laboratory ( Laboratoriehuset ) the footage was developed and printed. On a day up to 25,000 feet of film could be processed. The building was fire and explosion safe because of the then applied nitrate film.
  • The director Pavilion ( Regissörspaviljongen ) included work and meeting rooms for directors. Here, for example, Victor Sjöström, Mauritz Stiller and Selma Lagerlof met to discuss how her novel could best be implemented into a movie.
