Geography

Geographical Location

The village is located about 30 kilometers from the border with the Netherlands and 50 kilometers from the North Sea coast. The Jümme flows through the community. In the community Filsum and direct access to the B 72 and A 28

Filsum borders Uplengen, Detern, Nortmoor, Holtland, Hesel and Schwerinsdorf.

Religions

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Paul's Church celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2000. It has about 1750 members. In order for the community Filsum is strongly influenced by Protestant, like the rest of East Frisia. In addition, the work of the church is complemented by the country's Ecclesiastical Communities in Filsum and Lammertsfehn and the work of the EC ( Committed to Christ ). Explanation of the name

Personalities

The nationally known through radio and television Horse Whisperer and author Tamme Hanken comes from this place and has his horses REHABILITATION yard.

By 2006 Filsum was the winter home of the famous circus Charles Knie. After the sale of the circus ' winter quarters moved to Papenburg. The former owner Charles Knie then emigrated to Australia.
