Finchley Road tube station

Finchley Road is an aboveground station London Underground in the London Borough of Camden. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2, at the crossroads of Finchley Road and Canfield Gardens. The area served by the Metropolitan Line and the Jubilee Line station was used in 2011 of 8.98 million passengers. Can be switched at the same platform between the two lines.

The opening of the station took place on June 30, 1879 by the Metropolitan Railway ( predecessor company of the Metropolitan Line). After the construction of additional parallel running tracks of the underground operation of the Stanmore branch line November 20, 1939 was transferred from the Metropolitan Line on the Bakerloo Line to relieve the former and at the same time can accelerate. On 1 May 1979 the operation was based on the Bakerloo line at the newly opened Jubilee Line over.

Immediately southeast of the station starts the tunnel route towards the city center. Geological investigations in the context of tunneling have shown that the glaciation of Britain handed exactly during the Ice Age, up to this point.

Near the metro station there was the same station of the Midland Railway Finchley Road. It was opened on July 13, 1868, was on the way to St Pancras Station and was until 11 July 1927 in operation.
