Finlandia Hall

The 1971 to a design by architect and urban planner Alvar Aalto completed Finlandia Hall (in Finnish Finlandia - talo ) is a concert and congress building and today one of the landmarks of Helsinki. The architectural style is - typical for Finland - functionally oriented and provides a vivid contrast to the often moody acting landscape. The main auditorium of the hall can accommodate 1,750 visitors. Located on the southern shore of the bay Töölönlahti hall is clad in white Carrara marble and falls from afar on. However, the harsh climate of Finland put the marble slabs too strong, so most panels had to be replaced now.

In July 1975 here the CSCE Final Act was signed.
