Finn Geipel

Finn Geipel ( born November 23, 1958 in Stuttgart ) is a German architect and urban planner. He is co-founder of architecture and city planning offices LIN with offices in Berlin and Paris.

Life

Geipel studied from 1981 to 1987 architecture at the Technical University of Stuttgart. During his studies he founded in 1983 together with Bernd Hoge and Jochen Hunger architects and artists' circle LABFAC in Stuttgart. 1987 followed by the establishment of LABFAC Paris with Nicolas Michelin.

In 2001, Finn Geipel opened together with the Italian architect Giulia Andi the architecture and urban planning office LIN. The work of LIN covers current topics such as flexibility, openness, adaptation, and context, which are examined in the context of architecture and urbanism.

Besides visiting professor at the École Spéciale d'Architecture Paris, the Escola Tecnica Superior d' Arquitectura Barcelona, ​​Columbia University, New York City and at MIT Boston - Cambridge, since 2000 he is Associate Professor of Design and Building Science at the Technical University of Berlin. The field is named LIA. The laboratory is mainly concerned with the teaching and research in relation to different types of buildings. LIA is understood as permanent research platform of LIN.

Since 2012 Finn Geipel member of the Cluster of Excellence " image design knowledge - An interdisciplinary laboratory " at Humboldt -Universität zu Berlin. The cluster combines 22 different disciplines, which form a sustainable scientific research platform.

He is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Atelier International du Grand Paris ( AIGP ).

In 2010 he was nominated for his urban development projects and realizations in France a Knight of the Legion of Honour ( " Chevalier de la Légion d' Honneur ").
