The Finnish Hound ( Suomenajokoira ) is recognized by the FCI Finnish breed ( FCI group 6, section 1.2, Standard No. 51).
Origin and History
The breeding of the Finnish Hound began in the late 19th century. French, German and Swedish hounds were involved. The Finnish Hound is one of the most popular working dogs in Finland. In contrast to the Norwegian running dogs, the Finnish Hound is a beagle, but not a retriever.
Description
The Finnish Hound is one to 61 cm large tri-colored hound with a black coat. The outer coat is of medium length, thick, straight, close fitting and quite harsh, with a short dense undercoat of softer texture. With the leading edge hanging close to the head, the ears are worn so that the rear edge to the outside and its tip nearly to the front.
Nature
Quiet and friendly dogs, never aggressive; raring to go.
Use
Finn Bracken be used as a hunting and companion dogs.
