Fiona Hyslop

Fiona Hyslop ( born August 1, 1964 in Irvine ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP). In the Scottish Parliament elections in 2011 Hyslop won the direct mandate in their constituency Linlithgow.

Life

Hyslop attended Ayr Academy and then Glasgow University, graduating with a master's degree in economic history and sociology. This was followed by a visit to the Scottish College of Textiles to before Hyslop in 1986 was working for an insurance company. In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Hyslop joined as a list candidate for the SNP in the constituency Lothians and moved into the Scottish Parliament. In the parliamentary elections in 2003 and 2007 Hyslop was set up as a direct candidate for the constituency of Linlithgow, but lost each of the candidate of the Labour Party Mary Mulligan. However, they pulled each as a list candidate for the constituency in Parliament. Between December 2009 and May 2011 Hyslop held the ministerial portfolios for Culture and External Affairs. Only at the Scottish Parliament elections in 2011 could win the first time the direct mandate in the constituency of Linlithgow.

Hyslop is married, has three children and lives in Linlithgow.
