Fionnuala Sweeney

Fionnuala Sweeney (born 1965 in Belfast) is an Irish television presenter and reporter for CNN. She moderates World One from the CNN Center in Atlanta (USA), before she reported from London and moderated the program World News Europe and International Correspondents.

Fionnuala Sweeney was born into a Roman Catholic family in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and lived there until the age of twelve, when she and her family moved to Dublin. Until her move, she attended St. Dominic's High School, after which she went to the Alexandra College in Milltown, Dublin. Sweeney later studied journalism at the National Institute for Higher Education. She spent five years as a television journalist with the Irish channels RTÉ.

She is best known as host of the Euro Vision Song Contest 1993, which was seen by 350 million people. In the same year she moved to CNN. She worked there at the headquarters in Atlanta as an author and presenter, was moved back to London and worked from now on as a full time presenter. They also often reported as a correspondent from the Middle East, for example, during hospitalization of Ariel Sharon.
