Fiora River

The Fiora is a 80 km long river in Italy, which crosses the provinces of Grosseto ( Tuscany) and Viterbo ( Lazio ) from north to south and empties in Montalto Marina (village of Montalto di Castro) in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It flows through the Tuscany region to 51.2 % of its course and the Lazio region to 48.8 %.

Course

The name derives from the river is the St. Flora di Cordova from Córdoba ( † November 24 851 ibid.). The earlier by the Etruscans and Romans Armenta, Armine or Armino called ( to the 13th century ) River rises on the southwestern slopes of Monte Amiata in the municipality of Santa Fiora. Here it flows through the local third Montecatino, where he passed the fish farm Peschiera and the Chiesa della Madonna della Neve and continue past flows south to the district of Selva. He then forms the municipal boundary between Semproniano and Castell'Azzara and enters the municipality of Sorano, where it touches the hamlet of Sovana left side. As a last community of Tuscany Pitigliano it is, where it is west of the hamlet Pian di Morrano the border between Tuscany and Lazio, as well as the provinces of Grosseto and Viterbo (municipality Farnese). Here at Ponte San Pietro flows from the left one of the 36 km long river Olpeta. Valle del Fiora

Nature Park Riserva Naturale Mont car

The Reserve Riserva Naturale Regionale di Mont car is in the municipality of Manciano. It was created in 1996 and has an area of 199 hectares. It lies at the southern end of Manciano and meets Lazio.
