Fire-maned Bowerbird
The Rotscheitel - Bowerbird ( Sericulus bakeri ) is a species of the family of bowerbirds ( Ptilonorhynchidae ).
Description
The Rotscheitel Foliage bird is about 27 inches tall. The plumage of the male is black. The top of the head and the back are stained bright red. The wings have a golden yellow plumage. The neck feathers are elongated. The iris of the eye is colored yellow. The female has a brownish plumage with a white-colored brown speckled underside.
Distribution and habitat
The Rotscheitel - Bowerbird is endemic in the mountain forests of Papua New Guinea.
Nutrition
The species feeds mainly on fruits and insects.
Endangering
The species is on the IUCN Red List as "vulnerable" out. The greatest threat represents the increasing destruction of the habitat
