A fire protection officer has been appointed in writing by the employer and a specially trained person who carries out the operational fire protection in the business. The focus of the work lies in preventive fire protection.

Tasks

The fire safety officers should advise the fire protection managers of a company ( employer / entrepreneur, manager, head of agency ) as the central contact for all fire protection issues in operation and support. Obligation to appoint

In Germany, there is no general requirement to appoint a fire officer. However, the states may prescribe the order in their respective construction law. This is particularly true in hospitals, major retail outlets and larger industrial buildings, as is due to the high number of persons in these buildings to be expected with increased hazards. In addition, the competent planning authority may at special structures call for a fire prevention officer.

The appointment of fire safety officers should be between entrepreneurs and Brandschutzbeauftragtem, naming the area of ​​responsibility ( company, plant part, building or department ), a task description and the estimated time required in writing. In Austria at least one Fire Prevention Officer is required in the course of an establishment approved by the trade authority. This requirement can also be enhanced by the establishment of a fire brigade.

Training

Germany

Mandatory regulations for training does not exist. After training as a fire prevention officer takes a minimum of 64 teaching units of 45 minutes ( max. 10 teaching units per day) and concludes with an oral and written examination. A shortened training for professionals for work safety is no longer provided due to the omitted fire protection content in the reformed education. However, the course content can be tailored to participants' prior knowledge group or company-specific risks and circumstances or formed topics in training for fire prevention officer.

Austria

In Austria, the training of various institutions are carried out, as in the economic development institutes of the Chambers of Commerce or the fire service training. However, it can also be carried out by private companies. As a framework for the training of fire prevention officer TRVB the O 117, 2006 edition is used in all of Austria.
