First (Grindelwald)

First summit station of the First cable car station above Grindelwald

The first is a flattening of the Southwest Ridge to Widderfeldgrätli ( 2'632 m above sea level. M. ) in the Bernese Oberland to the north above Grindelwald. He can be reached via a cable car or on foot. The upper mountain station also called First ( 2'167 m above sea level. M. ) and is available to visitors in winter and in summer with a well-developed ski and hiking area available.

Especially popular is the hike to Bachalpsee and on to Faulhorn, which offers a spectacular view overlooking the Upper Grindelwald Glacier and the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Another interesting hike leads to the Blackhorn. East of First is 5.6 km on foot from the Grosse Scheidegg.

The first is a starting point for paragliders and hang-gliders and starting point for many mountain bike tours. First station also offers an impressive winding carriage way, which leads directly to Grindelwald in good snow conditions.
