First Kamchatka Expedition

The First Kamchatka Expedition was conducted 1725-1730 research and expedition under the leadership of the Danish Naval Officer Vitus Bering ( 1681-1741 ) who had initiated and planned the Russian Tsar Peter the Great.

The tasks of the expedition was to establish the eastern border of the Russian Empire and the evidence of a land connection between Asia and America ( see also Deschnjow ).

A major part in her had the Russian Siberia researchers Alexei Ilyich Chirikov ( 1703-1748 ).
