First of October Anti-Fascist Resistance Groups

The Grupos de Resistencia Antifascista Primero de Octubre ( GRAPO to German: Groups of anti-fascist resistance of the 1st of October) were the military arm of the Partido Comunista Spanish Communist Party of Spain ( reconstituido ), short PCE (r).

They were founded in 1975 with the aim to expel the U.S. Army from Spain and to overthrow the dictatorship of General Franco, to use a Marxist- Leninist government.

The Council of the European Union led the organization to its list of terrorist organizations.

The GRAPO perpetrated 1977-2001 irregular attacks on U.S. facilities in Spain, entered last, however, only occasionally with bank robberies forth.

Since 2000, many GRAPO members were arrested in Spain and France. 2003 was banned as a party, since it was assumed that the PCE (r) and the GRAPO would form a common organization, the PCE (r). In early June 2007, according to the Spanish authorities, the sole remaining terrorist cell of GRAPO by the arrest of six suspected members GRAPO smash, which the organization has been dissolved, there is now not a member of this group located more in freedom.
