FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2017

The 44th Alpine Ski World to be held in St. Moritz early 2017. The spa town in the Upper Engadine was the venue for the world championships in 1934, 1974 and 2003. Also the alpine competitions of the Olympic Winter Games in 1948 are at the FIS than World Cup, so that St. Moritz 2017 leads the championship events for a fifth time.

In order to host also Åre (Sweden) and, for the third time in a row, Cortina d' Ampezzo (Italy ) competed. At the Congress on 31 May 2012 in a resort in the South Korean province of Gangwon -do, the Italian Application withdrew at short notice, so that St. Moritz was elected in the first ballot with twelve out of 15 possible votes. The remaining votes were cast in Åre, the venue of 2007.
