FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships 2005

The 11 freestyle skiing world championships took place from 17 to 20 March 2005 in Ruka, Finland.

The attractiveness of the freestyle skiing world championships were increased with the inclusion of the new halfpipe and ski cross competitions. While the half-pipe from the Snowboarding is well known ski cross was relatively unknown until four years ago in Europe, although the sport under the name Skier Cross boomed in the United States. The FIS has become known to the trend and has been held since the 2002/ 03 season own World Cup tour. With the first World Championships in the freestyle skiing World Cup, the new craze was at its biggest highlight.

About 300 athletes from 30 nations went to the five disciplines at the start. In 1986, the largest so Ruka title fights this sport took place in Tignes since the first freestyle World Cup.
