FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1978

The 32nd Nordic World Ski Championships was held from 18 to 26 February 1978 in the Finnish town of Lahti held for the fourth time after 1926, 1938 and 1958. New to the program was the 20 - km - long run of the women.

For the first time a team competition was held in ski jumping at Nordic World Ski Championships. This served as a demonstration competition for the imported at world championships from 1982 team competition on the large hill. Due to the unofficial nature of the competition no medals were awarded.
