FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1999
The 42nd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was held from 19 to 28 February 1999 Ramsau am Dachstein in the Austrian province of Styria instead. There were 16 matches played (10 cross-country skiing, ski jumping and 3 3 Nordic combinations ). The jump on the large hill competitions were held in Bischofshofen in the neighboring province of Salzburg on the Paul Ausserleitner hill.

Austria took the second time after 1933, a squadron coin, which for the first time the gold medal. The Austrian team was on the third round already almost unassailable lead as Mikhail Botwinow a stick broke and this crashed then. So it came to the final round of the historic final sprint between Christian Hoffmann and Thomas Alsgaard.
