FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011

The 48th Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 took place from 23 February to 6 March 2011 in the Norwegian capital Oslo instead. This was decided during the FIS Congress in Vilamoura ( Portugal) on 25 May 2006. Oslo sat down by twelve votes to Val di Fiemme / Italy ( four votes) and Zakopane / Poland ( no voice ) by. Oslo was previously four times, 1930, 1952, 1966 and 1982, hosted a Nordic World Ski Championships.

For the women's ski jumping team competition should be introduced according to their individual competition debut at the 2009 World Championships, but this was rejected in March 2009. In the Nordic combined mass start competition eliminated, but there is a second team competition ( with jumping on the normal hill ).

Norway hosts was with eight gold medals - all in cross-country competitions - the most successful nation and presented with this result, a new record for the Nordic Ski World Championships. All ski jumping and Nordic combined team competitions were won by Austrian athletes. The most successful participant was the Norwegian cross-country skier Marit Bjørgen with four gold and one silver medal. Cross-country skier Petter Northug of Norway and the Austrian ski jumper Thomas Morgenstern and Gregor Schlierenzauer won the World Cup three times.

Date: March 4, 2011 After jumping on the large hill, the team of France was still in the lead, but was overtaken early in the race of the three underlying Nations. Even the strong -cage rotor Lamy Chappuis the gap to third-placed Norwegian could not accumulate. In the end it came to a sprint finish between the German Tino Edelmann and Mario Stecher, the Austrians won scarce. For Felix Gottwald, this was already the eleventh medal at the Nordic World Ski Championships. He replaces Ronny Ackermann ( ten medals ) as the most successful World Championship medal collectors in the combiner stock.
