Fischeln is the southernmost and largest city district of Krefeld. It covers almost 19 square kilometers and is equipped with 26,559 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2011) behind the center of the most populous municipality. Fischeln divided into the districts of Fischeln, steel village and royal court and in the statistical districts steel village, royal -West, royal, low breakage, Fischeln East and Fischeln -West.

History

On Fischelner area traces have been found from the Stone Age. A sound and a glass vessel testify to early medieval burial ground of the 7th century AD A parish church is mentioned in the year 943 for the first time. By 1929 Fischeln was an independent municipality. When the construction of a sewer decency, it was incorporated into Krefeld. However, the municipal treasury at that time was by no means empty. Culture and sights
