Fisterra

Fisterra ( official name, in Spanish Finisterre ) is a city in the province of A Coruña the Autonomous Community of Galicia.

For community association also includes the municipalities of: San Xoán de Sardiñeiro, San Martiño de Duio, San Vicente de Duio and Nosa Señora das Areas Fisterra. It is located 108 km from A Coruña, 98 km from Santiago de Compostela, 13 km from Cee and 54 km from Muros.

History

History Cape Fisterra was held for the western end of the world. The relevance of this place was emphasized in the various epochs, religions and cultures with places of worship and underlined with legends. The Romans called the promontory, the end of which represents the cape, promontory and built a Nerium Ara Solis, a dedicated altar of the sun.

Beaches

The territory of the municipality is mostly surrounded by the sea and offers excellent beaches, depending on the location of strong or calm waves ( in the shadow of Cape Fisterra ). They are very good for all kinds of water sports. In Fisterra there is also the Club Náutico and a diving center.
