Five prime untranslated region

A leader sequence of the untranslated sequence ( UTR) from the 5 ' end of the mRNA is referred to prior to the translation start point (start codon) in molecular biology. It contains the ribosomal binding site (RBS), enabling the binding of mRNA to the ribosome.

The leader sequence is a control sequence and is not translated, so it is not to be found in the finished protein. It is, inter alia, involved in the control of attenuation by this can fold into two alternative secondary structures. One allows the continuation of transcription, and the other causes a premature termination of transcription.

At the level of DNA, the sequence between the transcription start site and translation start point is a gene.
