FK Bačka 1901

FK Backa 1901 ( full official name in Serbian: Фудбалски клуб Бачка 1901 Fudbalski klub Bačka 1901) is a Serbian football club from Subotica, and is considered one of the oldest football clubs in Serbia. Currently the club plays in the fourth league.

History

The club was in 1901 when Subotica belonged to Austria - Hungary, as Bácska Szabadkai Athlétikai Club ( Suboticer Athletics Club Bačka ) founded and consisted mainly of Croatian or bunjewatzischen players, but also Serbs played it in the club. Between 1923 and 1925 the FK Backa 1901 took part in the Yugoslav football league is the former name of JSD Bačka - Jugoslovensko sportsko društvo. With the attack of the German Empire to Yugoslavia during the Second World War in 1941 the Backa and thus Subotica was annexed by Hungary. Thus, the club was forced to play in the third Hungarian Hungarian League, where he first started in 1944 there.

After the victory of Yugoslav People's Liberation Army in late 1944, the club renamed in Hask Građanski (Hrvatski Akademski Sportski klub Građanski ). At the urging of the new Yugoslav government but had all the clubs whose club name or crest pointed to a certain ethnic group, remove them. Thus, the association changed its name again was called the FD Sloboda, with all parts of the names which refer to the Croatian and bunjevazischen origin, have been removed. Finally, another name change followed in FD Zvezda. In 1963, he took back to his old name.
