FK Tønsberg

FK Tønsberg is a Norwegian football club. While the current club spent a season in the Adecco Ligaen, was part of the previous twenty clubs, who joined forces in late 2001, some top notch.

History

On 10 October 2001 joined the football teams of Anbu IL, Arnadal IL, Barkåker IF, Eik Tonsberg, Flint, IF Hauk, IF Husøy above Foynland, Høyjord IL, IL Ivrig, Nøtterøy IF, IF Ramnes, Sem IF, IF Slagen, Stokke IL, Teie IF, IF Tjøme, Tømmerholt IF FK Tønsberg, Vear IF and IF Vivestad for FK Tønsberg together.

Prehistory

Most successful predecessor association among the individual clubs was Eik Tonsberg, whose place in the third division of the new club also took over. The club was founded as Eik IF in March 1928 rose in 1957 in the first-class Hovedserien on. Already in its second season in the top domestic league the team played for the title, as in second behind Fredrikstad FK, however, in their season they missed the championship final. The following year, again in second behind the club Fredrikstad FK reached the newly introduced play-off for third place. By a 4-2 win against Vålerenga IF, the team took the bronze medal.

The season 1960/61, ended with the greatest success in the club's history, as the team Eik Tonsberg reached the championship final against Fredrikstad FK. There, she was beaten with a 0-2 defeat. In the following season, there was only enough for eleventh place in the table, so that the qualification to be transmitted in the calendar year 1 Divisjon was missed as the highest league. Initially involved in the struggle for the re-emergence, the club placed in the mid- 1960s in the central region of its second league season. 1970 Finally, the team got down to the third tier, hovering in the following decade between the third and fourth division.

1980 returned Eik Tonsberg back to the second division and placed himself immediately in front league area. 1982 Kongsvinger IL in second behind the team reached the promotion round in which they prevailed against Fredrikstad FK and Steinkjær I & FK. After a fifth place in the first year, the club slipped into the relegation battle and rose again in 1985. While the club in 1989, renamed Eik Tonsberg, he moved again into the promotion round to the first league, this time he came there only the last place. As in second behind Bærum SK respectively Pors Grenland the newly founded association missed promotion to the Adecco Ligaen only just in the first two years of its existence. Under the Swedish coach Reine Almqvist dominated the club in the season 2004 with 20 wins in 26 games this season the league, in the second division season 2005 but the team had no chance and went straight off again. In the following years, the team established in the top group of their third league season.
