FK VÄ—tra

The FK Vėtra was a Lithuanian football club from Vilnius. The club was disbanded in 2010 due to inability to pay.

Club history

After the establishment on July 7, 1996, the club from Rūdiškės first played in a Regional and finished after the season the tenth of twelve courses. In the next season, the team took second place and was able to successfully play the rise in the Lithuanian League third ( fourth- highest division in the country). In the following years the team was relegated again until she came for the first time in the A Lyga 2001. There, the team was relegated after one season again.

In the 2001 /02 season the club reached the quarter- finals of the national cup and celebrated as a master of 1 Lyga ( second highest division) again move up to the A Lyga, reaching the Cup final and the third place in the league were the sporting successes the following season.

In 2004 the club moved to Vilnius, the stadium took at that time 3500 spectators. With the resistance in the A Lyga, the stadium was expanded in 2005 to 5300 places in 2006 was followed by an extension for VIPs, so that the stadium took 5,500 spectators.

2005, 2007 /08 and 2009/10 the cup final was reached again, where the club but in each subject. In the Baltic League, the club 2007 and 2009/10 could reach the quarter-finals. 2009 succeeded in the A Lyga with the second place, the highest placing.

2010, there were initially irregularities in the licensing process, also later in unpaid wages to former player Almir Sulejmanovič were observed, which each led to the deduction of six points. During the summer break due to inability to pay it finally came to exclusion from the League operation and dissolution of the association.
