Flaccitheus

Flaccitheus († probably 475 ) was from 467 until his death King of Rugians.

Little is known about Flaccitheus, but some details in the Vita Sancti Severini of Eugippius handed. The Rugians had built after the Battle of Nedao outside the Roman Empire's border north of the Danube their own realm. The collapse of the late antique administration order in Noricum increasingly accelerated due to the impact of the migration of peoples around the middle of the 5th century. The majority of the regular Western Roman troops were withdrawn, as well as most civil servants left this room. The Rugians in Noricum (sometimes referred to in the research as "Kremser Rugians " ) exploit this in order to consolidate their power; Flaccitheus even lived across the street from Favianis. But soon they came into conflict with the Ostrogoths in Pannonia, who controlled the connection paths to Italy and the Rugiern denied the passage to Italy. Flaccitheus, who was an Arian Christian like most Rugians, to the Catholic Abbot Severin of Noricum, who lived in the dominated Rugiern of Noricum and seemed to have asked the Council. Severin said to have advised Flaccitheus to wait in peace, then everything will settle by itself what should have calmed Flaccitheus. After Flaccitheus ' death (probably in 475 ) mounted his son Feletheus rugischen the royal throne.
