Flag of Bonaire

The flag of Bonaire was posted on December 11, 1981 officially introduced as Bonaire was still part of the Netherlands Antilles.

Description

The flag consists of three diagonal stripes in yellow, white and blue with a stylized black compass around a red, six-pointed star in white stripes.

Red, white and blue, the colors of the flag of the Netherlands, show the connection of the island with the Netherlands.

The yellow Obereck represents the light of the sun and the beauty of nature, since many plants have yellow flowers on Bonaire. The blue triangle at the end of the flight is representative of the sea. The white diagonal stripes means peace, freedom and peace. The black compass to commemorate the settlers who came across the sea and settled on Bonaire. The red, six-pointed star is a symbol of the former six residential Bonaire: Antriol, Nikiboko, Nort Saliña, Playa and Tera Kora, which now form the capital Kralendijk and Rincon.
