Flag of Cape Verde

The flag of Cape Verde was officially introduced after the rupture of relations with Guinea- Bissau on 22 September 1992.

Importance

The blue cloth symbolizes the infinite sky and the sea. The ten yellow stars represent the 10 islands of the country, the circular arrangement for the nation and its unity is. The red and white stripes symbolize the road to building the country. White stands for peace, red symbolizes hope.

History

During the colonial period, the Portuguese flag was used on Cape Verde. 1967 there was a proposal to add the respective arms of the colony for the Colonies to the flag of Portugal. The proposal was not implemented.
