Flag of China

The flag of the People's Republic of China was first hoisted on October 1, 1949. The official name of China's national flag is Red Flag (Chinese红旗, Pinyin Hongqi, complete:五星 红旗, wǔxīng Hongqi, five-star red flag '). It is also used as the name of the most important ideological newspaper and for most Chinese cars.

Description and significance

Color is the communist red, while the color of the Han Chinese. It also applies in China as a lucky color. In the upper left corner is a large yellow five-pointed star, which is arcuate framed by four smaller stars.

The large star symbolizes the leadership of the Communist Party, the smaller stars represent the four classes:

These four concepts identified Mao Zedong in a speech from 1949 when the four groups, which make up put the Chinese people.

Moreover, the number five has a traditional meaning. Traditionally, one speaks of five rulers, five colors, five elements, five virtues, five varieties and historically of five areas of China: China proper, Manchuria, Mongolia, Xinjiang and Tibet.

History

In July 1949, promoted the Preparatory Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese people in China and among the overseas Chinese to suggestions in the design of the national flag. The flags of the two special administrative regions are modeled in the form and design of the National Flag of the People 's Republic of China, by both contain five stars.

Service flags

The flag of the People's Liberation Army and their armed forces include all the stylized Chinese characters for August 1 (8-1, Chinese八一, Pinyin bā yī ), the date of its foundation. The star stands for their victories in the long struggle to expel foreign powers from China and to unify the country.
